In 1990, Daniel Auteuil forged his way through Les Fourberies de Scapin, along with Jean-Pierre Vincent. Today, they meet again, in order to tackle the most successful dramatic play that Molière wrote in his lifetime. Auteuil plays the role that the great dramaturge reserved for himself : that of Arnolphe, « a man », as Vincent tells us, « obsessed by female infidelity. He has taken under his wing, a young girl, so that one day, she may become his « ideal wife ». He sequesters her in his house, cut off from the rest of the world, letting her grow up in total, absolute ignorance. And so she does, in what he calls « silly foolishness ». But one day, the young woman falls in love with a man in the street. So in order to break the spell of love, our hero must immediately make sure that his young protégée, sees the light, reasons. Yes she replies, except that I am but a silly fool. And with this ruse, the young woman, who is not so foolish after all, escapes from his grasp. » After having staged Jean-Luc Lagarce in the Ateliers Berthier, Jean-Pierre Vincent returns to the classic repertory and to the majestic Odeon theater, for the long-awaited reunion with a very great stage actor.
