Reading at the Cluny Museum
Monday, March 8th at 7pm

Rutebeuf, «Et il ventait devant ma porte»
Reading by Olivier Py, texts chosen and presented by Michel Zink, Professor at the Collège de France, director of the « Gothic Letters » collection at the Livre de poche. Rutebeuf was, in the 13th century, the first great poet of Paris. The poet of destitution as well, with his caustic cheekiness, his troubled faith and his caricatured self-portraits. He put his pen at the service of the great debates and great causes of his time. But the verses which have remained most vivid in our minds are those in which, playing on words with lean and muscular facility and nonchalant weariness, he drones out his « soliloquies of the poor, » victims of poverty and prisoners of vice.
Organized by the Cluny Museum – National Museum of the Middle Ages, in the framework of the Exhibit  Paris, the Radiant City – Architecture and Sculpture of Parisian churches in the 13th century.

> Cluny Museum, 6 place Paul-Painlevé 75005 Paris

Reading by the Author
Tuesday, March 16th at 6:30 pm

«Les derniers de la rue Ponty» by Sérigne M’Baye Gueye (Disiz)
Reading by the author of excerpts from his first novel (published by Naïve 2009). A strange young man, who says he has already died and claims to be an angel, arrives in Senegal. Gabriel wanders through Dakar, perhaps in quest of redemption, certainly in search of some kind of salvation. He hadn’t known how to love two women ; above all he hadn’t known how to protect them. As a wise old man suggests to him in all simplicity, his soul will find peace if he undertakes to save two other women.

Legacies, Movements and Influences Of Mediterranean Cultures
Taking as a starting point our Greek theatrical and philosophical roots, imagining a history, in the broadest sense of the term, of the complex movement of texts and ideas throughout the Mediterranean basin . Recounting the decisive contribution of Muslim and Jewish societies to the literary and scientific bodies of knowledge which were later the source of the Enlightenment in Northern Europe, as well as the extraordinary place of Arabic poetry in today’s Middle East societies. A voyage, which will take us from antiquity to the present day.
Co-hosted by Laure Adler and Donatien Grau, with (subject to confirmation) Anahita Ghabaian Etehadieh, Zeev Sternhell, Amos Gitai, Abdelwahab Meddeb, Gilles Pécout, Marwan Rashed, Dimitris Dimitriadis, Costa Gavras...

Act Up : «They’ve been protesting for 20 years and it’s gotten them nowhere»
At the moment when Act Up-Paris is celebrating its 20th anniversary, the association wishes to create a day of reflection on what constitutes radical protest in France in 2009. In the current state of affairs, which compels us to keep our hard-fought-for social gains rather than fight to improve the rights of those who are sick, how can we best prepare for the struggle of the next ten years? Sponsored by Marina Foïs.
• From 11am to 1pm and from 2pm to 3 :30pm : Workshops
1. HIV and public health policies : what place is there for democracy ? What place for those who are sick?
2. Between the media and political activism : what new forms of action exist ? What communications strategies to adopt?
3. The inextricable link between HIV and insecurity : how effectively to combat this on all levels ?
• 4pm: Public Presentation of Workshop Results
• 6pm: Public Reading by Marina Foïs of texts by Act Up
In partnership with Act Up - Paris.
