The earth, fire, water and the wind, Edouard Glissant and his guests.Wednesday November, 3rd at 8 pm« Would you say that a poem can be sectioned, cut, interrupted, that one could simply read fragments, excerpts chosen according to whims and shifts in the wind ? Yes, when the excerpts are lucky, meaning they have grace, acquired from so many encounters, when they fit so well together, a piece of one poem fitting into another poem, which in turns becomes an entire poem within the total poem, and is then sung like a poem. This is an anthology of the Whole-world poetry, and it does not obey to any sort of order, logic or chronology, but it collides, attacks, signals new points of energy, soothing lethargy, quick stabs of the mind and heavy, sumptuous waves of thought, which it attempts to swing and sway, perhaps so that the reader might imagine other trails, paths of poetry that he himself can create? »
Édouard Glissant
« Édouard Glissant, the spearhead of anti-colonialist struggles, brother in arms of Aimé Césaire, (…) is the founder of the Whole-world Institute, and has become, from Japan to New York, a figure and reference for research into fragmented identities in the age of globalization. »

Valère Novarina by Guillaume Gallienne from the Comédie-FrançaiseThursday, November 4th at 8 pm.A public reading directed by Oliver Py, inaugurating the Valère Novarina cycle.
« Yes dammit, I’m going for sure, at full speed. That’s how I talk to the one who is eyeing me and spying on me through the lens. Nine fourths of our lives are devoured by hours of stupid comings and goings ! We raise our arms and your head is going to fall off. Oh how un-happy I am with my life that has to stop at all of these ridiculous stations ! My head is too triangular, not round enough for me : my arms are good, not long enough and I could use eight, that way I would have ten. Adrameon, Ablamelion, Ablamelech, shut up or climb in, but stop talking ! Marling with my pickaxe rambling along at my heels ! » (Adramelech’s monologue, new version published by P.O.L. in 2009)
Guillaume Gallienne graduates from the National Conservatory in 1998 and joins the Comédie-Française as its 513th member. In March 2008 at the TOP in Boulogne-billancourt, he writes and directs Les Garçons et Guillaume, à table !/ Boys and Guillaume, it’s dinner time !. (Solitaires Intempestifs, 2009) which wins the Molière (French Tonys) in 2010 for best promising stage actor. He acts for the cinema and television, and writes and acts in Les Bonus de Guillaume/A bonus for Guillaume for the Grand Journal on Canal+. Since September, 2009, he is the host of Ça peut pas faire de mal/This can’t hurt, on France Inter, a weekly radio show devoted to literature, broadcast on Saturdays from 6 :10-7 pm.

Why must we tell stories ?Monday, December 6th from 11:00 am to 10:00 pm.A day of oral literature.Oral stories have always been, and still remain, one of the most solid and universal means for transmitting knowledge and values. Transmitted from man to man throughout the centuries and sometimes even millennia, and often without recourse to writing, these stories bring us almost-undamaged messages that our ancestors invented for us. These stories tell of mankind’s eternal struggle against Time, against injustice, against violence and hatred, against ignorance.
Why then, is this ancient ritual that has been around for as long as mankind, that allows us to gather together and share in tales that answer questions that are still vital, « Where do we come from ? Who are we ? where are we going ? » held in such disdain today ?
What role must this transmission, this exchange between the dead, the living and the not-yet-born, play today in the construction of our common future, and how can it proceed ? These are some of the questions that we wish to share with you.
