GEORGES LAVAUDANT: "Underneath it all, the theatre is being incredibly naive, but does not realise it. And it is no conformist pose. It really is its position, not knowing, always being either too old or too young, in forgotten tongues or languages of the future."

In 1996, Georges Lavaudant was appointed artistic director of the Odéon for a five-year term. He is at the head of a theatre conducting confirmed missions, while also determined to get back to practices he values - the idea of a permanent company and "mobile theatre" - la Cabane - to explore new forms of expression.
