2002-2006 -The Renovation

This is the most extensive building works programme since 1930. The technical installations (stage, stage house and under-stage facilities) have been modernised. The theatre has been air-conditioned and restored so that it is more comfortable and offers a better view of the stage; the foyers open to the public have been restored to their original glory. New areas have been opened beneath the main entrance and access for disabled persons finally be upgraded to current standards. Changes were also made bringing the theatre inline with the latest safety standards; office areas have been repainted. The French State invested 30 millions euros in the project which has been managed by the French cultural works authority, supervised by Alain Charles Perrot, head architect of France's historic monuments.
